Here are the items updated or added to Profit Plan since its first release back in August, 2009.

1.      Report Print Layouts Automatically Adjust to Horizon and/or Account Changes

As the chart of account changes and/or the number of periods in a View increase or decrease, how most of the standard reports fit on a standard print page can change.  In Profit Plan releases prior to v2010.2905, Profit Plan relied upon the use of the Page Setup ability to adjust font sizes to fit the report to a standard page.  With release v2010.2905, Profit Plan automatically reviews a report's page setup just prior to printing or print previewing, to adjust for the best fit with the current data.  Landscape printing will to added, if the report now has more periods than can be fit on a portrait page without scaling below 70% of the report's standard font size. If not, the page will be rotated for landscape printing and further scaled until it fits, if this is possible without scaling.  If smaller scaling is require, Profit Plan will opt to print on the report from top to bottom and then continue on to additional pages to print out the rest of the data if necessary.

The user can override this automatic print adjustment for any specific report by selecting the Options / Custom Titles main menu option and setting the Allow custom titles and changes to the report body.  Once this flag is set, automatic print adjustment will no longer occur with that report until the check box is again cleared.

2.      Importing DMSi G/L Trial Balance Data

Profit Plan v2010.2905 can now recognize and import DMSi "Agility" accounting systems exported G/L Trial Balance reports without modification, once converted into *.csv format via Excel and reexported to Profit Plan from there.  Up to 25 or more of these converted monthly reports can now be imported at once, if using a PC with 2 GB of random access memory.  This is the equivalent to importing two full years of full monthly financial results in one gulp!  (Less memory equals fewer files per import, rather than a limit on how many periods can be imported in total.)

3.      QuickBooks P&L Detail Report Imports

The Profit Plan v2010.2904 release corrected a potential import difficulty introduced when Profit Plan v2010's first gained the ability to import financials by "class" subaccount. Early v2010 releases required including the class data in the QuickBooks exported reports, even if not of importance within the Profit Plan model. Now, you simply do not need to export classes once again, if not using them within the financial model.

4.      MS Office Small Business Accounting Chart of Accounts

Translation of MS Accounting account codes into Profit Plan "account types" has been enhance an a pre v2010.3904 release to accommodate changes found with MS Accounting under Windows 7.

5.       Graphing Data within the Compare Models View

Double-click Charting --The contents of any account line within any of the several models being simultaneously displays within a Compare Models window can now be graphed by simply double-clicking the account of interest. This double-click function was not available in the Compare Models window until the v2010, build 2901 release.

Identifying the Compared Models -- Each model added to the Compare Model window is assigned a number as it is being loaded into the window. This "model #" now also displays in the double-clicked chart caption, to facilitate visual comparison of variations between the various models any specific account line(s) of interest.

6.      Year-to-Year Performance Report

Display of Departmental and User Account numbers -- The display of these optional columns in this v2010 report is now fully independent of whether or not the option has been activated in the Assumptions and/or the Account Setup tab windows.

In early releases of Profit Plan v2010 concealing the Division code column could also conceal the name of the model in the report heading of this report.

7.        Help and Messaging

Message displays for some of the new program features have been updated to enhance clarity and spelling.  Some have been removed as unnecessary interruptions.

Help
button options have been added to some processing messages (such as those that may appear while importing G/L Trial Balance data) to provide convenient access to the full topic within online Help. And some of the help topics themselves have been updated in small ways to enhance clarity.

8.      Minor Cosmetics

As always, throughout the entire update processes culminating with this release, minor cosmetic changes have been added to enhance readabilty, help guide the user through the necessary decision processes, or simply to make a display more pleasing.  And, of course suggestions from the field have also been added as time permitted, to further enhance Profit Plan.  We hope you enjoy the results!
